we ll bring you complete coverage of the bay s big weekend in just a moment, but we begin tonight with a heartbreaking story on the peninsula. a minivan hit and killed a 6-year-old girl in a parking lot of a church today. her mother and one other adult was also injured at st. andrew s catholic church in daly city. kimberly tere joins us from daly city with more for us. reporter: diane, you can see the markers left on the ground by investigators who were here for hours in this parking lot. the accident happened just before 9:00 this morning, just as mass was about to begin, and catechism for the kids was getting under way. so witnesses say the parking lot was very busy. according to daly city police, a woman in her 50s driving a minivan hit a mother, her child, and another woman. all three victims were taken to san francisco general hospital where the 6-year-old girl died. the two women, one 45, the other 46 years old are, still hospitalized tonight. their conditions unknown
what led to that fatal accident. this parking lot at st. andrews church was busy this morning. mass was about to begin at 9:00 and catechism was getting underway. police say it hit a mother, her child and another woman. it s shocking to me. we don t know what happened. we just see someone is crying for help. crews rushed all three victim to san francisco general hospital where the 6-year-old girl died. the two women, one 45, the other, 46 years old, are still in the hospital. parishioners prayed for the families involved. we got the call at 8:58. police say they have been affected by what happened. it was very sad, not just for the people who were there who may have seen it but the officers who responded. when you see anybody hurt, especially a child. a lot of us are fathers and it does hurt. the driver was not injured and police say she is cooperating with their investigation. she has not been cited or arrested while an investigation is ongoing. police say they d
recognition wasn t there. reporter: the victim s neighbor called 911. and she says, just before the attack, she saw suspicious- looking men on her block. in all honesty, i thought, oh, they re casing the neighborhood. if i had the phone, taking a picture might have helped. reporter: now these two women are coming forward and hoping these sketches lead to an arrest. i hope they get caught. reporter: the victim says the men took a few little items, including her cell phone. she says she really doesn t know if she was targeted. the victim says they got into her house through an unlocked back door. police say they have no updated information on this case other than the release of these two sketches. mike mibach, ktvu channel 2 news. we have developing news in oakland right now where a policeman man hunt is under way. an accident occurred about 4:45 this afternoon on macarthur boulevard and richie street. police say the driver of the car that officers were chasing stru
