President Uhuru Kenyatta has suffered two major losses in a span of one week in May 2021. First, his Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) was declared null and void by the High Court.
Secondly, Uhuru s Jubilee Party lost the Juja by-election to its own member and Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria. To worsen the situation, Kuria is considered a rebel member after his candidate won the seat through the People s Empowerment Party (PEP).
PEP s George Koimburi defeated Jubilee s Susan Njeri Waititu - the widow of the late Juja MP Francis Wakapee Waititu.

Three political factions have emerged at the Coast, threatening plans to unite the region under a new political outfit ahead of the next General Election.
It is now emerging that the same hurdles that have derailed efforts to unite the region since independence are standing in the way of current efforts.
The first faction is coalescing around Governor Hassan Joho of Mombasa; the second around Kwale s Salim Mvurya, and a third faction is behind Amason Kingi of Kilifi.

In a declaration that could signal the party s political trajectory as 2022 beckons, Raila gave the clearest pointer yet that he could be in the ballot in next year s General Election, but after delivering the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
He described BBI as a process of sifting the grain from the chaff so that we can go directly to the mill .
