It is not yet a done deal for Jubilee Party and ODM in the Nairobi governor race, as it emerged that parties still have a chance to field candidates.
The Saturday Standard has learnt that there is still a window for other political parties to give the direct nomination to candidates, a development that is likely to muddy the race and spoil the chances for the two dominant political outfits to fill the post unchallenged.

Deputy President William Ruto has said Independent Candidate, Feisal Bader, win in the recent Msambweni by-election has bolstered his march to State House in 2022.
Addressing a public rally at Ukunda on Thursday, Ruto described Bader’s win as a new awakening in the country’s politics, saying Msambweni voters rejected politics of blackmail, ethnicity, threats and intimidation to elect a leader of their choice.
“The journey towards 2022 has gained momentum. I want to thank the Msambweni people for electing Feisal. This is a new awakening for the people of Kenya.

The history of relatives replacing their dead kin has seen many gain access to political power in Kenya.
Kenya has for a while been accused of supporting dynasties in political circles. The claim has never sounded more true that when family members are elected to replace their deceased kin.
From Kibra MP Imran Okoth to Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, most by-elections have become playground for families keen to ensure the political mantle torch left behind by the dead kin remains firmly in their grip.

The leaders said failure by the party to recruit volunteers to mobilise voters led to a low turnout in areas ODM candidate Omar Boga was popular.
“We have identified very many issues but we cannot share with the press,” said Raila after the meeting.
He dismissed claims that the party was losing its grip at the Coast following the loss in Msambweni to Deputy President William Ruto’s preferred candidate.

The leaders, who included Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, said they would reorganise the party grassroots and start campaigns from next month against the Tanga Tanga group allied to Dr Ruto.
