NURSERIES have thrown themselves into learning about the Far East in celebration of the Chinese New Year. Pre-schoolers from Hollingarth and The Old Vicarage Day Nurseries in Barrow have been wishing their parents and the community ‘Kung Hei Fat Choi!’- a very happy Chinese New Year. The fun and games have been both enjoyable and educational for the children who have been developing their early years learning goals in ‘understanding the world’ and ‘British values’. Rachel Smith, the Robin classroom teacher at The Old Vicarage Day Nursery said: “The children have been measuring wooden blocks and building their own interpretation of the Great Wall of China this morning, there has been some really creative construction taking place.
