A man led police on a high-speed chase from Wilkes-Barre to Newport Twp. before he crashed his car and a police dog subdued him as he fled on foot, according to city police.
John L. Derhammer, 47, of Wilkes-Barre, is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, DUI and harassment.
The incident began with a dispute at a Park Avenue home on Saturday afternoon, according to an affidavit filed by Wilkes-Barre police.
According to the affidavit:
Two women at the residence told officers that Derhammer barged his way into the home, assaulted both women and damaged furniture during an argument.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. Crews were called to a burning home at 7:30 a.m. Friday on Old Newport Street in Newport Township, outside of Nanticoke.
They were met with smoke shooting out of the upper-story windows.
The Luzerne County coroner s office confirms one person did not make it out of the fire.
John McKenzie of Hunlock Creek told reporters it was his mother who died in the fire, Diane McKenzie and that she was in her mid-70s
