The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake has grown into a tourist destination in Northeast Ohio s wine country since opening in 2004.
About an hour outside Cleveland along rural Ashtabula County s Lake Erie coastline, stakeholders are fretting about the future of a lodge that has been a linchpin of Northeast Ohio s burgeoning wine country for the last 17 years.
Opened in 2004, the multimillion-dollar Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake has been owned and subsidized by the county since its inception.
However, for better or worse, that will change at the end of this year. That s when the state is set to take control of the property and pay off its remaining debt.
