DISCUSSION The board is moving ahead with the project, which has two main components, according to the half-hour-long video posted on the district s website: A pre-K through sixth-grade building at the existing Chippewa Intermediate School and an auxiliary gymnasium at Chippewa JR/SR High School.
The project was based on needs the community has highlighted, along with problems at Hazel Harvey Elementary, such as asbestos and necessary replacements for windows, doors, lights and boilers, Superintendent Todd Osborn explains in the video. The district decided it was more cost-effective to move to two instructional buildings, rather than putting funds into the elementary. The auxiliary gym would be used to support athletic practices and youth sports programs and would provide varsity locker rooms.
