SALT LAKE CITY The Utah Democratic Party on Saturday announced its selection to fill the seat left open by the death of Ogden Rep. LaWanna Lou Shurtliff.
Retired obstetrician-gynecologist and U.S. Air Force veteran Dr. Rosemary Lesser will serve in the House District 10 seat after state delegates chose her out of eight candidates, the party said in a statement.
Before her retirement last year, Lesser practiced medicine at the Ogden Women s Clinic, Ogden Regional Medical Center and McKay-Dee Hospital. She served for 15 years as an obstetrician-gynecologist in the Air Force and served surgical missions in Mali, West Africa, according to the Democratic Party.
