HORNELL A trio of Hornell police officers and a Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputy have been recommended for commendation letters after defusing a tense situation in the City of Hornell.
At 3:45 p.m. Dec. 27, officers were dispatched to a report of a suicidal subject armed with a handgun on Taylor Street. Officer Ian Hamilton was first on scene, with Officer Seth Blanchard and Deputy Mike Ramirez arriving shortly thereafter. Hamilton engaged in a 10-minute dialogue with the suspect, who was eventually convinced to put the loaded weapon down.
