New Rubbish Bins To Complete Four-Bin System
With the dedicated glass-only bins rolled out citywide in April, Warrnambool households are set to receive their final new bins for rubbish collection from next week.
This completes the municipality’s transition to a four-bin system, with collections to change from weekly to fortnightly.

The volume of material able to be collected has increased with the new mix of bins, with the changes made aimed at diverting material from landfill and directing waste into recycling streams or re-using it where possible.
“Over the past few years, there have been a lot of changes to the way kerbside collection works in Warrnambool, and I’d like to thank everyone for their patience as we move to a four-bin system,” says Warrnambool Mayor Cr Vicki Jellie.
Fatal collision in Carranballac
Police are investigating a fatal collision in Carranballac this afternoon.
Emergency Services were called to Glenelg Highway following reports three trucks had been involved in a collision just after 5pm.
One of the truck drivers, a yet to be formally identified man, died at the scene.
The two other truck drivers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations are ongoing.

Flying Agent takes out Scotty Stewart Brierly Steeplechase
A fast finishing Flying Agent flew to the line in the 2021 3YB FM Scotty Stewart Brierly Steeplechase, to claim trainer Amy McDonald her first win at the carnival.
The pre-race favourite stormed to the front with Darryl Horner (jnr) aboard, overtaking 2019 winner Bit Of A Lad on the final straight, to win by two and a half lengths.
Speaking to racing.com following the race, McDonald said it was a relief after a nervous day. He s amazing, I can t thank the owners enough to show the faith and send him over, and everyone that s had a bit to do with it, just amazing she said.
