Stephanie ruhle. As Donald Trumps legal problems continue to grow, democrats are making a big push for transparency. More than three dozen House Democrats called for cameras in the courtroom during the doj cases against trump. Its something that trumps own attorney was asking for just a few weeks ago. The first thing we would ask for is lets have cameras in the courtroom, so all americans can see what is happening in our Criminal Justice system. And i would hope the department of justice would join in that effort so that we take the curtain away and all americans get to see what is happening. Earlier today, our friend near called deal laid out the importance of having those cameras in the air is. Why dont underestimate dawns ability to try tostay stuff outside of court to his party, lawyers, and so many others, all of which can undermine decorum anyway. The best check on that, and this is something that one of our greatest justices sunlight is the best disinfectant. Let the American Pe
Today, in a unanimous decision, the justices ruled that its not up to states to bar trump from their ballots under the 14th Amendment, so he gets to stay on the ballot in colorado, where the primary is tomorrow, maine, and illinois. They cant kick him off either. This decision is significant because the Supreme Court has never had to rule before on whether or not states have the power to disqualify a candidate, even an insurrectionist. This outcome is not necessarily surprising. The moment most legal experts heard the Oral Arguments and, specifically the back and forth with the justices, most of them predicted the court wouldnt take the step of barring the republican front runner from the ballot, that they would find a way out, and they did. Now, would a different outcome have sent a stronger message that you cannot foment an insurrection and be allowed to run for federal office . Yes, it would have. Would it be better for the prospects of president bidens reelection if donald trump go
Good evening, and welcome to politicsnation. And youre looking at live pictures from selma, alabama, where Vice President Kamala Harris and other dignitaries, including myself, are crossing the bridge to commemorate the 59th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday, with just two days till Super Tuesday, election 2024 is very much on our mind. And joining me now is congressman steven horsford, democrat of nevada, and chair of the congressional black caucus. Congressman, mister chairman, its been nearly 60 years since john lewis and Josi At Williams and some 600 others first marched across that bridge, the Edmund Tennis Bridge you and i just marched across with the Vice President. And yet we still find ourselves contending with conservative forces, seeking to curtail Ballot Access for minority voters, or students. And in the case of alabama, dilute the power of the black vote. What are your thoughts, as the cbc chair, as we walked across that historic bridge, 59 years later, and still fighting for
Here. Gillian it is a total joy. Take a look at this the closeddoor interview with lawmakers. Which was released on the same date that form a President Trump face to state indictment, at that time enough putting creams of double standards into pretty stark relief. Case in point, the former Police Commissioner to commit a crime similar to hunter biden, but rather than a plea deal, ended up getting sentence and surveying ten months and praise and listen. I went through that some of my life, and this is the way the criminal Justice System the serfs to be and i wanted to take accountability for what i did. This is the where the Justice System this must be designed. And it should be everyone should be held accountable across the board, im sure that millions and millions of americans across the world they want fairness in the Justice System. Lucas jones is from capitol hill with more details. Hello lucas. It is not just a gentleman involved in that case, but the amount of money involved in t

He reminds me to change my sheets [laughter] its often said that life is like a crap sandwich. The more bread you have, the less crap youve got to eat. But in Gavin Gavin Newsom california, they mean it literally. They mandated a higher minimum wage for Fast Food Restaurants, raising it from 16 to 20 an hour. But it offers an Odd Exemption for chains that bake bread and sell it as a standalone item. Why . What difference does that make . Why shouldnt a restaurant bakery be subject to the same laws as Everybody Else . Is the bakers union that powerful . If you cross them, lee lined up with the pillsbury dough boys head in your bed . No one will say. But according to a new Bloomberg News report, newsome pushed for the Bread Exemption to help a long Time Campaign donor, billionaire greg flynn, who happens to own a bunch of panera breads. I know you kn
