People affected by floods in Odisha, East India, face a shortage of safe drinking water with many forced to boil flood water. Fears over waterborne diseases have been raised about the consumption of flood water. The government is attempting to provide water to the affected areas, but some are complaining that the water tankers cannot reach them because of the flooding.

Villages in Cuttack, Nayagarh, Boudh and Sonepur have been waterlogged due to floods in Mahanadi and its tributaries, and more low-lying villages in Puri, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur are likely to be affected
Maximum 22 teams are deployed in Cuttack district followed by 16 teams in Puri, 14 team in Kendrapada, 13 teams in Jagatsinghpur, nine teams in Khurda and eight teams in Nayagarh.
