BHUBANESWAR: Even as the Odisha Economic Survey has predicted a contraction of the state’s economy in view of Covid-19, finance minister Niranjan Pujari is expected to present a growth-oriented budget of Rs 1.70 lakh crore for the 2021-22 financial year on Monday.
Healthcare, agriculture and allied sectors, infrastructure, education and skill development, tourism and social welfare are likely to get a sizeable allocation in the state budget.
“Though managing the Covid-19 pandemic is still our top priority, we have also taken up large health sector projects like construction of medical colleges and teaching hospitals in various districts and upgrade of the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The state government will continue to earmark adequate funds for these projects,” a senior government official said.
