Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab fired a warning shot at Paris amid after it was revealed four Royal Navy gunboats were on standby to stop EU trawlers from January 1 if trade talks break down. Reports also suggested that military helicopter surveillance will be made available and that ministers are considering beefing-up Navy powers in legislation to authorise them to board vessels and arrest fishermen found to be contravening post-Brexit rules.
