Jamaicans Roschell Clayton of the University of Villanova and Ockera Myrie of Clemson University were in record-breaking mode over the weekend as the US Collegiate indoor track and field schedule restarted. Clayton equalled Villanova’s women’s indoor high jump program record when she cleared a personal best of 1.84m at the Penn Select 10 meet held in Staten Island, New York. Clayton, formerly of Montego Bay High and Mt Alvernia High.
CLEMSON, S.C. - Forty student-athletes and 10 students in support roles and spirit squads earned degrees in the fall, which culminated in Clemson University’s Commencement ceremonies on Dec. 21, 2023 in Littlejohn Coliseum. Thirty-nine individuals earned undergraduate degreers, while twelve have earned master’s degrees. The fifty students comprise 25 different degree programs and nine athletic programs. Nine members served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and six were part of the Tiger Leadership Academy. The list includes 15 members of the football program, four members of the National Champion men’s soccer program, and three members of the Women’s Soccer College Cup team. In all, 22 of the graduates won team ACC Championships in their respective sports. Additionally, Daniel Gossett earned his PRTM degree as part of the Tiger Trust program, which allows student-athletes who left to pursue a career in professional sports to return to finish their degrees. RALEIGH, N.C. The Tigers put on another impressive performance on Friday, sending 15 entries to Saturday's championship races. Clemson ended the day with five points on the women's side, while the men had gathered 11 points. Action will resume on Saturday at 2 p.m. and conclude following the men's 4x400 meter relay at 8:40 p.m. FULL RESULTS FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS Oneka Wilson (13.33) and Antoinette Van der Merwe (13.41) both qualified for the 100 meter hurdles finals. Wilson, a freshman, won the 60 meter hurdles ACC Indoor Championship in February. Giano Roberts (13.44) and Jevon Williams (13.79) both qualified for the 110 meter hurdles finals. Roberts won the 60 meter hurdles National Championship in March. KK Gadson's 53.06 400 meter run time earned her a spot in the finals. RALEIGH, N.C. Competition began at the 2023 Outdoor ACC Championship Meet on Thursday with Clemson putting up several strong efforts on the first day. Three Tigers made their way onto All-ACC teams, while six punched their ticket to the finals of their events. Action will resume on Friday at 11 a.m. RESULTS THURSDAY HIGHLIGHTS Daniel Cope threw a school record 64.67 meters in the hammer throw to finish third in the conference and earn First Team All-ACC honors. Shantae Foreman finished fifth in the long jump, leaping 6.12 meters and earning a spot on the All-ACC Second Team. Ethan Cocco threw a personal best 65.64 meter javelin throw to finish fifth and earn a spot on the All-ACC Second Team. Lashanna Graham (56.89) and KK Gadson (57.17) finished second and third in the 400 meter hurdle prelims to qualify for finals.
