A cellphone is what helped federal agents confirm a Novant Health security guard’s involvement in the attack on the U.S. Capitol in January, according to unsealed documents.
Six people, including Laura Steele of Thomasville, linked to the far-right Oath Keepers militia group were indicted in February on charges that they planned and coordinated with one another in the attack on the U.S. Capitol, authorities said.
NC DPS confirms Laura Steele is a registered armed security guard with Novant Health. She has been a PPSB registrant since 2018 and has no disciplinary history with the PPSB. The Board can suspend/revoke a license or registration for violating the Private Protective Services Act. https://t.co/3IDFpMefAq Michael Stolp (@StolpWSOC9) February 22, 2021

Maybe you were struck as I was when U.S. House impeachment manager Congressman David Cicilline constantly referred to the Capitol riot as an “armed” attack in Wednesday’s hearing. I had been looking into this very thing myself. What arms had been used and found on the rioters at the Capitol?
Cicilline referred multiple times in his argument, now on record and taken as gospel, that “an armed, angry mob,” “an armed insurrection against the United States government,” “an armed, angry, and dangerous crowd,” and a mob conducting “armed violence against the government of the United States of America.”
