The right lane of northbound Interstate-75 in Troy reopened Wednesday at about 5:30 p.m. at the Big Beaver exit.
The center and left lanes in both directions will stay closed for weeks while crews repair damage from a truck fire. One lane reopened on the southbound side Tuesday.
The entire freeway had been closed after a tanker-truck crash and massive fire Monday. Resulting heat and spilled fuel seriously damaged concrete that had recently cured during the reconstruction of I-75 through Troy, and it required an extensive environmental cleanup, said a spokesman for the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Repair crews will rebuild the damaged center and left lanes each way, as well as the concrete median wall that separates opposing traffic, MDOT spokesman Rob Morosi said.
