Since then, a GoFundMe page has been created to help Smith pay for medical expenses brought about due to the injuries he sustained in the crash. “Due to the nature of his injuries that occurred from this unfortunate accident and with pending surgeries, we are trying to raise money to help with his medical expenses,” the page reads. “(Jeremy) is a caring, giving, selfless, first to help others in need and now during this time, he needs our help with these expenses.”

(KABC) A person was airlifted to a hospital days after a violent rollover crash that claimed the life of the driver. The crash apparently happened Thursday. A pickup truck overturned in the hills on Oak Valley Road, killing the driver and giving the passenger serious injuries that included two broken legs. The survivor was stuck in the mangled truck until the wreckage was spotted Saturday. Firefighters responded, finding the driver dead but the passenger still alive. The survivor was airlifted to a hospital.

Medical examiners with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office identified Benjamin Marquez IV, 31, of Castaic, as the man killed in a solo-vehicle crash that left one dead and sent another to the hospital Saturday. California Highway Patrol officers received reports of an off-road crash shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday after a passerby had located an overturned vehicle in the hills approximately 1 mile west of The Old Road on Oak Valley Road, according to a CHP news release. Due to its remote location on a dirt road, the crash site had gone unnoticed for some time, with initial interviews from the passenger stating they were out there since Thursday, according to Officer Josh Greengard, spokesman for the Newhall-area CHP Office.
