COCC Seeks Budget Committee Members

Central Oregon Community College (COCC) is currently seeking individuals interested in serving on the college's budget committee. There are two current vacancies representing two different zones with opportunities for Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson County residents. The budget committee consists of the seven elected COCC board members and seven appointed citizens representing the district's geographic zones. Budget committee members are board-appointed for three-year terms. The committee meets two to three times per year and recommends an annual operating budget to the board of directors. The first vacancy represents Zone 1, which includes all of Jefferson County, a southern portion of Wasco County and a portion of northeast Deschutes County north of Redmond. The second vacancy represents Zone 2, which includes all of Crook County and a portion of northeast Deschutes County between Bend and Redmond. COCC Board Looks At Underrepresented Students

The Central Oregon Community College (COCC) board of directors will hold its monthly meeting at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the Christensen Board Room on the second floor of the Bend campus's Boyle Education Center, 2600 NW College Way. The board meeting is accessible to the public on COCC's YouTube page. The meeting includes a president's report on a joint task force focused on underrepresented students and a recent community college audit by the Oregon Secretary of State's Office. The Human Rights and Equity Commission invites people in Bend to provide input to strengthen the commission's two-year work plan. The Bend City Council established the Human Rights and Equity Commission in 2020 to ensure historically marginalized and underrepresented people and communities in Bend have equal representation in City decision-making. The commission is composed of people who live in Bend, the majority of whom are from historically excluded communities. Commission members have listened to diverse communities by engaging in one-on-one conversations about what they felt are top priorities in regard to the City.
