Town Hall Discussion On New Performing Arts Center

Area residents and community members are being invited to participate in a conversation about the proposed Central Oregon Center for the Arts. The conversation will take place at a town hall meeting at Wille Hall, 2600 NW College Way, Bend, on Thursday, May 5, from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. Attendance is free, but registration is required. The topic of conversation will be a study, currently under way, designed to explore the possibilities of building and operating a performing- and visual-arts center in Central Oregon that will serve the diverse cultural needs of Central Oregon through stage, music, fine-arts, and education in Central Oregon to support and develop arts and culture. Dubbed a "discovery study," it is being conducted by the Arts Consulting Group, a national firm with offices in Portland. COCC Seeks Budget Committee Members

Central Oregon Community College (COCC) is currently seeking individuals interested in serving on the college's budget committee. There are three current vacancies representing three different zones with opportunities for Crook, Jefferson and Deschutes County residents. The budget committee consists of the seven elected COCC board members and seven appointed citizens representing the district's geographic zones. Budget committee members are board-appointed for three-year terms. The committee meets two to three times per year and recommends an annual operating budget to the board of directors. The first vacancy represents Zone 1, which includes all of Jefferson County, a southern portion of Wasco County and a portion of northeast Deschutes County north of Redmond. The second vacancy represents Zone 2, which includes all of Crook County and a portion of northeast Deschutes County between Bend and Redmond.
