George Manias, the newly hired team president for Albany s new professional indoor lacrosse team has been down this road before. Three years ago, he was one of the main cogs behind the resurrection of Arena Football here in the Capital Region. With Manias at the helm, the Albany Empire had tremendous success on and off the field culminating with an AFL Championship in the Summer of 2019. Can he pull off the same magic act with professional lacrosse? I wouldn t bet against him.
Manias is sharp. He knows what it takes to not only bring a winner here to Albany, but he knows that fans here in the Capital Region expect big things. He wants the experience down at the Times Union Center to be just as exciting for lacrosse games as it was for Empire games. It s a tall task, but it has to start somewhere and he s digging in.
