top of the hour on cnn newsroom. just moments ago, federal charges were filed against the man accused of beating paul pelosi with a hammer inside his home. the federal charges reflect that pelosi was targeted for being the husband of house speaker nancy pelosi. federal prosecutors reveal more details on what happened to the 82-year-old. the justice department said that the attacker hit paul pelosi had in the head with a ham eastern plot the plotted out what he would do nancy pelosi if she lied to him. let s get the latest from whitney wild. the justice department is saying that this began around 2:30 in the morning friday when this man, the suspect, 42-year-old david depape with the pelosi home and entered through the back of the home. based on this affidavit, sounds like there was broke that he was able to breakthrough a door and somehow, you know, utilize that to get inside the home. then depape went to the bedroom on at floor where pelosi, paul pelosi, the husband of

decision, news of that broke and the u.s. and all around the world. we ve seen thousands of demonstrators pass through this area outside the supreme court today. you know, when we were here first earlier this morning, there were groups from both sides of this debate and anti abortion activists were here celebrating as we reached into the evening, it was pretty much exclusively hundreds, possibly thousands of proabortion choice activists. the crowd really has dwindled out now. speakers just finished talking but say come back tomorrow. they want people back here tomorrow. what we did see here today, don, is a huge security presence across washington d.c. i will say that it was very, very different to the security presence we saw in washington d.c. on the morning of january 6th. there was police all over the city. some demonstrators also this evening marched from s.c.o.t.u.s. through washington and came back. so we are likely to see more demonstrations in the coming days. people
