Qazi Medical Complex: NAB launches probe into alleged irregularities

July 17, 2021 NOWSHERA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched investigations into alleged irregularities in the recruitment of staff and purchase of equipment for Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex and Nowshera Medical College. The investigation would look into the alleged irregularities dating back from 2016 to 2021. NAB has seized the official record from 2016 to 2021. It was alleged that a former dean of Nowshera Medical College had provided jobs to his 14 family members. The probe would also look into alleged wrongdoings in the purchase of medicines and the award of contract for the parking lot at the Nowshera Medical College. The allegations also included the use of substandard material in the construction of the building for the college. The anti-graft watchdog will formally launch the probe on July 19 and it has started making questionnaires for the probe.

MoU signed to promote quality medical research Peshawar April 12, 2021 MARDAN: The Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC) on Friday inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Khyber Medical University (KMU) to encourage and promote quality research to develop new medicines and procedures to help cure ailments. KMU Vice-chancellor Dr Zia ul Haq and BKMC Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Fazil signed the MoU in a ceremony. The vice-chancellor and the dean inaugurated KMU’s sub-office of Research, Innovation and Commercializtion (ORIC) at the BKMC. The dean hoped that the BKMC would now serve as the regional hub for the Nowshera Medical College in Nowshera, Gajju Khan Medical College in Swabi and Saidu Sharif Medical College Swat for carrying out research and hosting training activities while the KMU would provide access to the faculty members of the BKMC to the varsity digital library and to software.

Medical college seats for merged districts increased Peshawar February 26, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the enhancement of reserved seats for admission in public sector medical and dental colleges of the province for the students from the newly merged districts. The KP Home and Tribal Affairs Department issued a notification to this effect on Thursday, said an official handout. As per the notification, a total of 334 students of the merged areas would get admissions on reserved seats in different public sector medical and dental colleges of the province. As many as 41 students would get admission on reserved seats in Khyber Medical College, 28 in Ayub Medical College, 20 in Saidu Medical College, 20 in Gomal Medical College, 38 in Khyber Girls Medical College, 51 in Bacha Khan Medical College, 13 in Kohat Institute of Medical Sciences, 25 in Bannu Medical College, 12 in Nowshera Medical College and Five in Gajju Khan Medical College.
