K D Sethi, last surviving member of J&K Constituent Assembly, dies at 93

Born in Mirpur, now in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, he represented the Nowshera Assembly segment Srinagar: Krishan Dev Sethi, 93, who was the last surviving member of the Jammu & Kashmir Constituent Assembly, passed away on Thursday at his Jammu residence. According to the family, he passed away around 4 a.m. at his ancestral home at Dalpatian Mohallah, Jammu. Mr. Sethi, who was keeping unwell for the last one year, is survived by four sons and two daughters. Born in Mirpur, now in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, Mr. Sethi was an elected member of the first Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir formulated in 1951 and finalised the separate constitution of J&K. He represented the Nowshera Assembly segment.

Jugal Kishore Sharma inaugurated Patli bridge in Panchayat Langer in Nowshera. The 45 meters span motorable bridge costs Rs two crore approximately. He also kickstarted the construction work of road from Rajal Hanjana to Baba Naar Singh Dev Sthan including allied works costing Rs 5.59 crore stretched over the length of 12 Kms. He said that both works were the main demands of inhabitants of the area and they were waiting for long period to get these demands fulfilled.

In Jammu division, 17 seats spread over nine districts will have voting tomorrow which include Balakote in Poonch and Nowshera in Rajouri whose number of polling stations fall well within shelling and firing range on the Line of Control with Pakistan for which the concerned district administration was keeping the fingers crossed as the Pakistani troops resorted to shelling and firing in Balakote this evening for about half an hour.
