Not My Son
The organization Not My Son was essentially born out of the tear gas that flew almost a year ago at Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, as protestors clashed with police days after Floyd’s death.
“It was the straw that broke America’s back,” said founder, Tramonica Brown.
His death was the catalyst that brought her and so many protestors to the streets of Dallas. She formed the organization on June 2, 2020, when she witnessed protestors being shot with rubber bullets and tear gas during last summer’s protests.
“I didn’t want to see anybody’s babies get hurt with rubber bullets,” said Brown, who is both a mother and an educator. “It originally started with a group of teachers. No one protects more I think their moms and teachers.”

The Dallas City Council elections are May 1 and early voting starts Monday. All 14 council seats are contested, and three districts, 2, 11 and 13, will see new faces as the incumbents have reached term limits. The other 11 incumbents face challengers. This is the ninth of 14 stories on the races, which started with coverage of the three open seats. The rest are being featured in ascending numerical order.

Kriseman said those who won t give up on gun violence need to leave town. We are a safe city. we are a loving city.
