There Are Still Families Stuck in Dallas-Area Hotels After the Storm
Organizations like Not My Son are still housing families displaced from last month s snowstorms.

It’s been two weeks since Texas was blanketed in snow, but there are still many who are struggling in its aftermath. Mutual aid groups, as we reported earlier, have housed and fed folks in need across the region. Last Saturday, Harvest Project Food Rescue helped distribute cases of water, produce boxes, and hot meals to families in East Dallas. Staff Meal continues its Snowmageddon free meal program. Although the freeze has thawed, displaced families remain.
Her Dallas home flooded after the winter storm. Then she and her 4 children found shelter in a hotel.
The family of five floated from house to house until she learned about the nonprofit Not My Son, which has helped around 600 families find shelter.

Black Lives Matter is rooted in the goal of creating a more just, equal and unified community. Ending police brutality is a part of that overarching goal, along with overcoming the widening gap in the distribution of wealth between white and minority communities.
To effect long-lasting reform and systematic change, allies and supporters of the cause can consistently invest in minority communities, as relying on the federal and local government can sometimes be detrimental, Black businesses statistically struggle to gain business loans.
