Norway: New group to support maritime green shift March 5, 2021, by Naida Hakirevic Four companies specializing in digitalization, energy efficiency and zero-emission solutions have joined forces in a new cleantech group under the name HAV Group ASA, Norwegian shipbuilder Havyard said. As informed, HAV Design AS, HAV Hydrogen AS, Norwegian Electric Systems AS and Norwegian Greentech AS will collaborate on forward-looking energy-efficient solutions. “Our customers have to address global megatrends, with very ambitious goals for minimising their environmental impact and increasingly stringent environmental requirements,” Gunnar Larsen, CEO of HAV Group, commented. “HAV Group has the necessary know-how, experience and technology to provide customers with vessels and equipment to achieve these goals, while also increasing profitability, competitiveness and sustainability.”

NES to deliver system package for Rem Offshore’s newbuild CSV March 3, 2021, by Nadja Skopljak Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) has won a contract from Green Yard Kleven to deliver the energy design and smart control solution to Rem Offshore’s new construction service vessel (CSV). NES will supply the energy design and system solution with a battery pack for the vessel named Rem Energy, while the delivery also includes options to expand with a larger battery pack in the future. According to the company, the 10 MW battery pack permits running with zero emissions when operating at an offshore wind farm, and will be charged via a buoy once such infrastructure is in place. Space is also allocated for future installation of fuel cells.

REM Offshore s Wind Service Vessel To Feature NES

The contract was awarded by Green Yard Kleven who is building the vessel. According to NES, the vessel will be the first in this segment with a fully-integrated NES bridge system.  Geir Larsen, CEO of Norwegian Electric Systems (NES), says offshore wind power represents an important sector for his company, which has now secured its 11th delivery to a vessel for this market. We offer shipowners forward-looking solutions which enhance safety and energy efficiency as well as a smaller environmental footprint,” he says. That’s particularly suitable for an offshore wind service market which generates renewable energy.”
