Portland police said the driver went off Powell Boulevard east of 24th Avenue, hit some poles, plowed through a TriMet bus kiosk and rolled his Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, which came to a rest in a parking lot. Authorities responded about 5:45 a.m. and unsuccessfully tried to save the driver, who’s been publicly identified only as a 73-year-old Happy Valley man. There are signs a medical event may have contributed to the crash, according to police.

Clark County Public Works crews closed the road between Northwest Bratton Road in Woodland and Northwest Bolan Street in La Center. Heavy rains caused a culvert to fail just north of the intersection of Pacific Highway and Northwest Griffith Road in Woodland, according to a news release from the county. Repairs are expected to take two weeks, but the timeline is weather dependent, according to the county. Drivers who don’t live in the area will need to plan alternative routes in the meantime.

Photo courtesy of ODOT Facebook Share A landslide has closed the Old Columbia River Gorge Highway between Wahkeena Falls and Angel Rest (Bridal Veil to Multnomah Falls) as of late Tuesday morning. The Oregon Department of transportation said the closure will be in place for an extended period so geologists can assess the situation and determine what mitigation efforts can be used. The highway will then need to be cleared of debris.
