Brown boxes bring boost to Lexington s East End

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â Following a year of social distancing, the Fayette County Sheriff s Office, Lexington Police Department and God s Pantry Food Bank teamed up and delivered 160 boxes of food to residents in Lexington s East End neighborhood Monday morning. The box contains fresh produce milk, butter, some yogurt, some potatoes. It came from the federal government. The USDA Department of Ag supplies these boxes for us, said God s Pantry Food Bank Program community Developer Mary Alice Daniels.
Fayette County Sheriff Kathy Witt explained the food drop effort was a collaboration.

And what a year.
Ross County is rich in history and hopefully that’s where the pandemic will soon be relegated. Over the past year I’ve continued to add to the library’s history timeline (available at www.crcpl.org/timeline/). I’m looking forward to when these events won’t come to mind so easily, so for future reference:
January 2020: News reports begin warning of a novel coronavirus, commonly known as COVID-19 that may spread around the world. The first positive patient in the United States identified on January 20 in Washington.
Every community has its leaders, influencers, and examples of gifted and giving people. The greater Kenosha County area has always had more than its share of these people. But, time is relentless, and the past year has seen a number of these exemplars left us.
The light of our community is dimmed by their loss. This is, by no means, a complete list of those people, but here are some of those giving and influential people our community has lost in the past 12 months.
Gary Kaddatz
Two-term trustee for the Village of Paddock Lake, Gary Kaddatz passed away Dec. 31, 2019 at age 68.
