Plymouth Township residents adamantly oppose developer's rezoning bid

Situated a stone s throw from a modest-sized chapel owned by NorthRidge Church and a short walk from the sprawling megachurch, 27 acres of foliage-covered Plymouth Township property is the epicenter of an ungodly amount of discord between a group of residents and a residential housing developer. Owned by nearby Northridge Church, the property is zoned R-1-E, which would allow up to 19 single-family lots   a housing density residents of nearby subdivisions can accept, based on an informal survey and comments delivered during a recent public hearing. Developer Leo Soave Development is asking the Plymouth Township planning commissioners to recommend to the Plymouth Township Board of Trustees that the land be rezoned to R-1-H status, a change that could lead to 42 residential homes being built on the property.

Plymouth teenager who died suddenly remembered for his kindness

Dan Waitz vividly remembers the time a few years ago when he gave his oldest son Grant and his other children each a quarter at a restaurant so they could get a piece of candy out of a gumball machine. A few minutes later, I looked over at the kids and everybody was chewing gum except Grant, Waitz recounted. When I asked Grant why he didn t get a gumball, he said he put the quarter in the container on the counter they were using to raise money for kids with leukemia. That s the kind of person Grant was: the most caring, compassionate, kind kid you d ever want to meet.
