colored in counties are river flood warnings. we re expecting a significant flood. a lot of the small rivers that feed into the mississippi river and even a moderate flood event, north of st. louis as we go throughout the rest of the week. we have more rain on the way. we are just set up here for a hose of moisture spraying down the central plains each and every afternoon, given every 12 hours or so, thunderstorms dump torrential rain as the warm air is trying to move north and the cold temperatures of the great lakes is still in place over that area. today, one thing that has changed from the storm prediction center, we have a moderate risk of severe weather. there s three categories. slight, moderate, and high. the area in red is of greatest concern. maybe even strong tornadoes in the morning portion of kansas and nebraska, from lincoln, nebraska, that area could see a potential of tornadoes today.

well, right now we have a watch that s in effect until 3:00 p.m. central for parts of louisiana and miss mishgs but we have aerials to show you from ktbi where they re going out to survey much of this damage from the potential tornadoes. you saw yesterday, of course, we have seen the pictures coming in of the incredible damage that occurred there last night, so they are heading out to the hazleton area here. they had a report there of wind gusts up to 101 miles per hour, and, look, can you see from the aerial pictures showing you much of the damage. trees uprooted. homes, buildings just torn apart. many cars turned over on their sides. they will be out going to these three different areas. i believe we had that on google earth. i m not sure. you can put that source. here we go. we have at least three separate areas around st. louis. bridgeton here. north of st. louis. then the union celedon area. this is where we really had some
strikes in the last hour, weakened now, now 2,000 lightning strikes and heading to fort dodge and ames may have a punch to. i we have these storms dying off and new storp. kansas city, north of st. louis, illinois, iowa, washington, the third day for thunderstorms in that region and some could push to detroit and buffalo today. in the southeast, okay, texas looks fine. a lot of areas to the great lakes, almost summer-like weeks we are having thunderstorms every day. all right. coming up. stocks something on jobs and coffee crumbles and the latest airline feat, it is a doozy. straight ahead. coming up a tragic ending for an nfl legend. you re watching first look on msnbc.
