The Boys & Girls Club of Central Arkansas celebrated the 100-year anniversary of its Jim Wetherington North Little Rock Club on May 11 at the Wyndam Riverfront hotel.
When Paul Holderfield, a white Arkansas firefighter, discovered that his Black friends weren t welcome at the church he attended, he left and started a new house of worship in North Little Rock where people of all races, ages and economic levels would be embraced.
Bob Engelberger, 93, grew up in North Little Rock and has seen the city grow and change over the years. His father and grandfather owned and ran the Engelberger Saloon, which was in the Faucette Building in the city's Argenta district.
