Accidental death
LOCK HAVEN A 57-year-old Lock Haven man sustained fatal injuries after falling down the embankment on the levee trail in Castanea Township, state police at Lamar said.
Robert W. Benfield Sr. succumbed to head injuries at the scene on April 8 at 4:54 p.m., police said.
The death was ruled accidental.
Harassment
LOCK HAVEN Melody McCoy Witherite, 42, of Mill Hall, was sent a summons after being charge with harassment by Woodward Township Police.
Witherite allegedly sent another person 47 unwanted text messages, many of which contained lewd an obscene language, over a five-day period from April 7 to 9, police said.
The summons was filed at District Judge Keith Kibler’s office.
Drug Possession
BELLEFONTE State police at Rockview initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle code violation and found the driver to be under the influence of poly drug use and had a small amount of marijuana on his person.
The incident occurred at 11:44 p.m. on Jan. 30 at South Thomas Street and Parsons Alley in the borough of Bellefonte.
Charges are pending against the driver, a 38-year-old man from Bellefonte, police said.
Two-vehicle crash
BELLEFONTE There were no injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 9:44 a.m. on Feb. 7, on North Eagle Valley Road in Liberty Township, according to state police at Rockview.
Minor cited
LOCK HAVEN An 11-year-old girl was cited for disorderly conduct after she was found burning a pile of leaves with a propane torch in one of the dugouts at Hammermill Park on Jan. 15, Lock Haven City police said.
Drug possession
HOWARD A 26-year-old Howard man was cited for drug possession following a traffic stop along North Eagle Valley Road near Bald Eagle State Park, Howard Township, on Jan. 21, state police at Rockview said.
The man was found to be under the influence of marijuana, in possession of a small amount of the drug and related paraphernalia, police said.
Assault
MILLHEIM A 20-year-old Spring Mills man was allegedly assaulted by two men in Millheim Borough on Jan. 2, state police at Rockview said. The victim reported the incident at Mount Nittany Medical Center and said it occurred around 3 p.m., police said.
Overdose
BEECH CREEK A 27-year-old Lock Haven man is suspected of taking a combination of unknown drugs, causing an overdose on Jan. 8 along North Eagle Valley Road, Liberty Township, Centre County, state police at Rockview said.
The victim was resuscitated and transported to UPMC Lock Haven for treatment, police said.
Pills and drug paraphernalia were found and seized from his apartment and taken to PSP Rockview station where it was secured into evidence, police said.
Cruelty to animals
AARONSBURG A case of cruelty to animals was investigated by state police at Rockview on Nov. 11.
According to police, someone abused a cat owned by a 56-year-old Aaronsburg man.
The investigation is ongoing.
DUI
MILESBURG A case of driving under the influence was investigated by state police at Rockview on Dec. 9.
According to police, a 52-year-old Milesburg man was stopped in his 2012 Chevrolet Cruze for summary traffic violations. Upon investigation, the man was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
Charges will be filed through magisterial district justice 49-3-02.
Child pornography
BELLEFONTE According to state police at Rockview, a Centre County man is being investigated for being in possession of child pornography.
