Bookmarks Teen Advisory Council Journaling Workshop with Nora Carpenter Community Event Wednesday, January 13, 2021 - 6:30pm to 7:30pm This month’s Teen Advisory Council will feature a free journaling workshop for high school age students with Nora Carpenter, young adult author of The Edge of Anything and editor of Rural Voices: 15 Authors Challenge Assumptions About Small-Town America. Free registration is required, email Ashley at ashley@bookmarksnc.org to register. High school age students are encouraged to join our Teen Advisory Council (TAC). This group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at Bookmarks. They discuss books and help plan events for teens at Bookmarks. They often introduce authors at events and have advanced access to new and upcoming books. Email ashley@bookmarksnc.org to learn more.

Monroe accident in front of Dollar General leaves two dead Two people killed in crash in Union County By WBTV Web Staff | December 24, 2020 at 10:24 AM EST - Updated December 24 at 8:38 PM MONROE, N.C. (WBTV) - Two people are dead after a car wreck in Monroe Wednesday night. The accident took place on Lancaster Avenue at the Dollar General. Police were called out around 6:13 p.m. According to police, a Ford Explorer Sport Trac driven by Robert Ashley was exiting the parking lot of the Dollar General when he pulled into the path of a Honda Pilot driven by Angela Deese.
