Pat Chubak •        •        • Thank you to Judy Foreman for giving us all hope with the photo of her vaccine card and her words that say we are not alone! Cynthia Spivey •        •        • Regarding the Jan. 22 article, “Beachside Bar-Café in Goleta Becomes Latest Business Casualty of COVID-19 Pandemic,” it’s gratifying to see such an outpouring of love for owner Dave Hardy. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Dave since our oldest sons played soccer in the 1980s, and have long trusted his wise counsel and advice. •        •        • I support the City of Santa Barbara’s proposed ban on gas connections in new construction. Kristen Miller raises various points in her commentary; most of them seem like vacuous reactions; others deserve some thought. Natural gas obviously creates CO2 when it burns. It is also a far worse greenhouse gas than CO2 when it leaks into the atmosphere, which it does, copiously. Miller sorta says she supports slowing down climate change, then says we shouldn’t really do anything about it. Stopping climate change is critical to our survival. It’s not just about local weather, although I respect that concern.
