Buzdar visits Bahawalpur, inaugurates various development projects

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar visited Cholistan Bahawalpur and inaugurated various development projects for Bahawalpur.
He also participated in the ceremony of Cholistan Desert Rally 2021, besides visiting Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) resorts on Saturday, said a handout issued here.
He inaugurated TDCP Cholistan desert resort and double-decker bus service for the tourists for Bahawalpur.
Usman Buzdar inspected the double-decker bus and purchased the first ticket of worth Rs 300. The route of double-decker bus includes SD High School, Commissioner House, DC Chowk, Bahawal Club, CMH Chowk, Museum, Central Library, BVH Hospital, Fawara Chowk, Noor Mehal, Ahmedpuri Gate, Darawar Gate, Farid Gate, Mori Gate, and zoo.
Pink bollworm causes loss of 1m cotton bales annually

FAISALABAD: Farmers should adopt proper management strategy against pink bollworm as the insect causes a loss of more than 1 million cotton bales every year.
This was stated by Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood while addressing an agriculture seminar at Jaranwala. He said that the Agriculture Department had started creating awareness among farmers about attack of pink bollworm on the cotton crop. He said the pink bollworm goes into winter nap during November and December and its eggs remain present on cotton seeds, branches and dried leafs in farms and ginning factories. When they get sufficient temperature after winter, they again become active, he told. He said that cotton growers should act upon the advice of agricultural experts and avoid cultivating cotton crop before April 1 to save it from attack of pink bollworm. Five more corona patients die in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Five more corona patients died on Sunday while 79 people tested COVID-19 positive during the last two days here.
According to the Health Department spokesperson, the number of deaths had reached 374 since March last year.
He said that 1,548 coronavirus tests were conducted in public and private sector laboratories, adding that active cases in Faisalabad reached 729 while 6,677 patients had so far been recovered.
He said that 550 beds were allocated at the Allied Hospital and 85 at the DHQ Hospital for the COVID-19 patients, adding that 104 patients, including 39 confirmed, were under treatment at the Allied Hospital while 43, including two confirmed, had been admitted to the DHQ Hospital.
Cops asked to improve security of Chinese engineers

FAISALABAD: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Riffat Mukhtar Raja Sunday directed police officers to ensure strict security of Chinese engineers and foreigners working at various projects across the district under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Addressing a meeting, he directed the CPO Faisalabad and DPOs Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot to make stringent security arrangements by ensuring three-tier security involving policemen, private guards and armed security personnel for Chinese and other foreigners. He said no negligence in this regard would be tolerated at any cost.
