martha: all right, big news on capitol hill this afternoon. we are awaiting a house vote any moment now on the bill to fund the federal government for the rest of this year, 2011 is the budget they are working on right now. that budget proposal is up for final approval, it s the deal that president obama struck with the senate majority leader harry reid and john boehner, it was hashed over very tense 48 hours. boehner is facing tough criticism from his own party after the nonpart son congressional budget office they ran the numbers on this 39 billion-dollar dial and the report that they came out with says that it will not cut spending anywhere near the amount that was advertised. mike gallagher radio talk show host and a fox news contributor joins me now with more on this. mike, disappointing about $382 million is what the cbo says would actually be cut from president deficit in this case? that s in the short term. i really am frustrate eud at sort of the discontent from
collective bargaining forms would be in. we were able to get the 5 and 12% savings also and multiple nonpart son agencies that advised both democrats and republicans in the senate advised us that this was a way to do that and still be in compliance with the narrow definition for the three 50 s requirement. that s why there was not a need nor 20 senators to be in the senate last night and we ve complied with that. we followed the law, and it allows us to move forward with these reforms, which are indeed fiscal. they are not in conflict with that requirement for a quorum, but they are indeed fiscal. they give a fiscal benefit to the state for the remainder of this year it allows us to save $30 million which allows us to save 1500 jobs, and for the next two years there after and the next budget it gives us at the state level the equivalent of $300 million worth of savings which allows us to save some 5 to 6,000 jobs. martha: the governor making his best argument once again for some of the
committee. yesterday we gathered together in a nonpart son say to save the massive cops to our cops programs, involving our police officers throughout the united states and our firefighters. we had a huge plurality to stop that attempt to cut into those services. this is national security. if we can t defend the homeland when can we defend? when we have a huge catastrophe in our neighborhood we have the police and fire there not the federal government. we worked very hard through the night, the night before. believe me when i tell you through the night. jenna: burning the midnight oil. it is nice to hear about compromises specially on issues like police and firefighters, things that affect every one of our communities, it s nice to see a compromise between both sides. we keep hearing about potentially a government shut down. if that is the fate, who do you think would be to blame?
