India has made a mark in the leather footwear segment, but customer preference is now shifting towards non-leather shoes, and Bangladesh is steadily marching ahead in this new world.
This is reflected in the focus on sunrise sectors like semiconductors, electronics manufacturing and non-leather footwear in addition to traditional ones such as automotive which includes electric vehicles (EVs) during the third edition of GIM to be held on Sunday and Monday.
Bodies representing large footwear retailers also want their existing inventory procured or manufactured before the quality control orders (QCO) to be exempt from the mandatory qualiity certification.
