A British court will hear on December 14 an appeal filed by fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi against his extradition from the UK to India to face charges of fraud and money laundering in the estimated USD 2-billion Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam case.
Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi had fled India in the first week of January, 2018, weeks before the scam in the PNB rocked the Indian banking industry.
The fugitive diamantaire, who had recently fled from Antigua and Barbuda, was captured in neighbouring Dominica after an Interpol Yellow Notice was issued against him

Fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi has filed an appeal before the UK High Court in London against his extradition to India, according to sources. If Nirav Modi’s application is accepted by the high court, his extradition will be delayed by at least a few months.
