Massive Jute cultivation begins in Narsingdi 196 NARSINGDI, April 23, 2021 (BSS)- Massive jute cultivation has started in all six upazilas of the district with a hope of growing more jute, the important cash crop of Bangladesh. According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), a total of 3,740 hectares of land has been brought under the jute cultivation in all the upazilas here during the current season. Of the total land, 440 hectares will be cultivated in Narsingdi sadar upazila, 160 hectares in Palash upazila, 510 hectares in Shibpur upazila, 620 hectares in Belabo upazila, 690 hectares in Monohardi upazila and 1,320 hectares in Raipura upazila. The government has given the maximum priority to increase jute production as to establish back the glory of the golden fiber.
