Volunteers needed for Earth Day cleanup at Indiana Dunes By: Maura Johnson PORTER COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Dunes National Park is looking for volunteers to participate in their first annual Earth Day cleanup event. Volunteers can now register to participate in the Indiana Dunes Trash Trekkers Earth Day Cleanup happening on Thursday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. During the event, volunteers will collect trash and debris that gathered over the winter from beaches, roadsides, the Little Calumet River, and trails of Indiana Dunes Country. “Participating in the cleanup is a great way to take pride in your community, celebrate the spring, and enjoy your neighborhood National Park,” said Volunteer Program Manager Jim Whitenack.

Mishawaka leaf pick-up program begins April 12 By: Maura Johnson MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Mayor Dave Wood announced today that the Mishawaka Street Department will provide a one-week leaf pick-up for residents in April. From Monday, April 12 through Friday, April 16, crews will be coming by to pick up leaves from residences. Leaves should be raked to the edge of the curb and free of twigs, branches, stones, or other foreign objects that could damage equipment. Leaves will be picked up the day before the resident’s regular trash pick-up day. Those with a Monday trash pick-up day will get their leaves picked up on Friday, April 16.

The Chicago Cubs alternate team will host the Detroit Tigers alternate team on April 10 and the Chicago White Sox alternate team on April 17 at Four Winds Field. Fans can purchase tickets on Friday, April 2 at 12 p.m.  “We are incredibly thankful to the Chicago Cubs and Major League Baseball for allowing us the opportunity to host fans at these games,” said South Bend Cubs Team President Joe Hart. “Just as the players need to stay conditioned for the upcoming season, our staff will use these games as a tune-up for the upcoming Minor League Baseball season.”
