In full coordination, Greece and Cyprus are participating in the Five-Party Conference in Geneva, according to diplomatic sources, remaining committed to the basic principles for resolving the Cyprus issue as defined by UN Security Council resolutions.
Greece, as a guarantor power, is participating as of today in the informal five-party conference convened by UN Secretary General António Guterres.
Yesterday, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias had successive meetings with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulidis and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.
At the heart of the talks was the coordination in view of the start of the informal pentagon.
The Foreign Minister then attended a reception hosted by the UN Secretary-General.

ATHENS Attending the informal five-party conference on the Cyprus issue, convened by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in Geneva, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias addressed the meeting held earlier on Wednesday, saying that Greece is attending with a constructive attitude and in good faith, according to diplomatic sources. Greece is present as a guarantor force, in full coordination with the Cypriot side.
He also pointed out that the Mitsotakis government wants the resumption of negotiations for the settlement of the Cyprus problem, the framework of which must be fully compatible with the UN Charter and the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council - meaning a bicommunal, bizonal federation - as well as the European acquis.

A meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus (Nikos Christodoulidis), Greece (Nikos Dendias), Israel (Gabi Ashkenazi), and of the United Arab Emirates (Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan) will take place tomorrow and Saturday in Paphos.
The latter will participate through a teleconference, while he will be represented at the meeting by the Diplomatic Adviser of the UAE President and former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Gargash.
This is the first joint meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the four countries which becomes possible after the recent normalisation of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
