Clemson Celebrates 2021 UPIC Spring Semester Interns

Clemson’s Student-Athlete Development department celebrated its 20 UPIC Interns from the 2021 Spring Semester earlier this month as the semester came to a close. Clemson University’s University Professional Internship and Co-op Program (UPIC) has become a pillar of development for students to utilize during their time as a Tiger.Clemson’s student-athletes can transition into careers after sport thanks to ONE Clemson, an organization with the Clemson Alumni Association that serves as a donor to help fund the department’s student-athlete UPIC opportunities. Due to the unique nature of the 2021 Spring Semester, student-athletes had the chance to experience an in-person, virtual, or hybrid internship during the semester.This semester’s cohort was spread across 17 departments and featured members from seven of Clemson’s athletic teams. (John Minchillo/AP) In late March, the U.S. Air Force Academy held its Department of Defense-mandated extremism stand-down training to examine and to eradicate extremism and white supremacy within the ranks. Superintendent Lt. Gen. Richard Clarke spoke of extreme ideologies on “both sides,” rather than confronting the unique flavor of the extremism threat on display Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol. Cadets learn how to lead by the example set from their leaders. Whether they lead with honor and integrity in all aspects of their lives, and especially in moments of duress, depends on the standard of leadership that is set by people like Lt. Gen. Clarke.

Clemson Celebrates 2020-21 UPIC Interns Clemson University’s University Professional Internship and Co-op Program (UPIC) has become a pillar of development for students to utilize during their time as a Tiger. Clemson’s Student-Athlete Development department, led by Assistant Directors Sable Lee and Anthony Hines, is proud to have helped 24 student-athletes take advantage of the program while continuing to pursue excellence at their sport during the 2020 fall semester. “I couldn’t be prouder of this group of student-athletes,” said Lee. “Their dedication to their professional growth amid a pandemic is to be recognized and honored. Thank you to ONE Clemson, Dr. Lori Pindar, Robin Bradley, and all of our mentors who made an impact on our student-athletes.”
