An Ado Ekiti High Court has sentenced one Farotimi Samuel 27 to life imprisonment for conspiracy and rape.
In her testimony the victim said, she went to buy garri and sugar, while on her way home, she was waylaid by 3 men, who covered her mouth and later took to her an uncompleted building where they all had sex with her adding that she can recognised the accused person among them.
According to the charge sheet, the act was committed on or about the 29/01/2018 at Oke-Ureje, Federal Polytechnic road, Ado Ekiti, the accused conspired with others at large to rape a 14yr old girl, contrary to sections 516 of the Criminal code, 31 of the Child Right Law, Cap C16 and C7, laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

An Upper Area Court in Zuba, Abuja, on Friday discharged and acquitted a 48-year-old driver, Ocha Tony, accused of stealing s cell phone.
The Judge, Mr Gambo Garba, discharged the defendant following an application by the prosecuting counsel, Chinedu Ogada, praying the court to strike out the case.
Garba said “having heard the prosecution’s application to strike out the suit for lack of interest by the complainant, the case is hereby struck out.
“The defendant is also discharged of all criminal charges and the First Information Report (FIR) is hereby withdrawn.”
Garba said that the defendant pleaded not guilty to the allegations sometime in Nov.2, 2020 and was granted bail and had always appeared in court for hearing in the case.

Man drags brother-in-law to court over N69,000 debt

A businessman, Abdulkadir Oyeleke, yesterday, dragged his brother-in-law, Malam Sani, before a Sharia Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, seeking recovery of N69,000.
Oyeleke told the court that in January 2020, Sani’s wife, who was his elder sister, visited him in his shop and saw some ready made brocade-designed clothes and told him that her husband was interested.
Oyeleke said: “When Sani came, he selected four sets for N10,000 each. He picked two others, which cost N4,000 each and bought one deodorant.
“This is three months now. He has not paid me the money he is owing. He also begged me to lend him N20,000 and I did.

Justice Haleema Salman, the trial Judge in the April 5, 2018 Offa bank robbery case, in Kwara, has blamed prosecution for the seeming delay in the dispensation of the case.
At the resumed hearing of the case on Monday in Ilorin after a prolonged adjournment, Justice Salman expressed displeasure of the court on the media reports that the court was delaying the trial of the suspects.
“The court is not happy about the news going round in the media that the court is delaying adjudication on this matter.
“If anybody is to be blamed for the delay in this trial, it is the prosecutor.
