First from the deck the state departments point man in americas new war says were making progress against the Islamic State but told a House Committee this is a multiyear plan. Lawmakers from both parties took shots at the administration for not doing enough to defeat the militants but the official defendeds the white house pointing to more than 1200 air strikes in the past few months in iraq and in syria. He says those strikes have stopped the militants offensive but he also says the fight is still in its earliest phases. Meantime another deadly day in iraq. Officials there say more than a dozen people died in a series of attacks around baghdad. Out about those who have been removed to different hospitals, and other people have no information and are trying to find out if their family members are still buried under the rubble. The emergency crews are not really sure of the numbers. They suspect other people are still inside the ruins somewhere. And obviously theres still an active search and rescue operation going on, but is there any thinking any theory as to what happened and what caused the explosion . Well this type of liquid gas is very unstable. Its used in many places in mexico in homes where you bring in these trucks and you put in a tube which takes this liquid gas into the house. Now, somehow that exploded. Its not obvious how that happened, but its not uncommon. There are a history of accidents. For shep. The terrorist in the massacre in orlando texted his wife during the killing spree and asked whether she had seen reports of the attack. Thats what a Law Enforcement source close to the investigation is tellingvn . n . n . X news and nbc news reporting that the couple began exchanging Text Messages after the killers mother called the wife asking where he was. Nbc reports the wife texted, quote, where are you . The killer responded do you see what is happening . The wife replied no. The husband wrote i love you, babe. The federal Law Enforcement source has told fox news the wife knew about her husbands plans in advance, but she never reported him to anyone, even the police.
