Kayla. 3 well last night we placed a 2 foot square plywood board on a flat surface and its about a half inch thick so it wont blow away in these blizzard conditions we also marked it with some orange tape so that we could find if after the measuring stick that is clear to read by tenth of an inch. 3 measuring in these conditions is difficult because of all the drifting snow. As you can see here i was falling earlier in snow drift spots that were up to my hips. This is why we put the snow measuring board away from buildings and trees. So that snow does not fall onto it and we also take an average measurements around the board. 3 we measure every hour during the storm and sweep it off for the next measurement.
