This 300-foot crane was recently assembled at Spencer Hospital. Workers will use the crane to hang steel girders for the hospital’s new Emergency Department addition. Nick Lowrey, a long-time journalist from northwest Iowa’s western neighbor, South Dakota, hit the ground running on his first day of work Monday, Oct. 23. As part of the Spencer Reporter’s news team, Lowrey will be covering everything from public safety and local government to community events in Spencer and its surrounding communities.
