First year Superintendent Michael Nelson gave his first annual progress report on Tuesday, July 6 during the Old Rochester Regional School District Joint School Committee meeting.
The report, which assessed the superintendent’s performance according to goals set out last year, was well received by the respective school committees of Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester.
“Every step along the way he created for us a beautiful portrait of what his leadership could be,” said Sharon Hartley of the Rochester School Committee. “A great leader listens and acts on what he or she heard and that is what we’ve seen here.”
A breakdown of the budget presented by Assistant Superintendent Howie Barber
MARION The Marion School Committee unanimously approved a $6.46 million operating budget for the 2022 fiscal year on April 7.
Old Rochester Regional District Assistant Superintendent Howie Barber presented the budget to the committee at a public hearing, where he broke down costs for Sippican School.
The Fiscal Year 2022 operating budget reflects a 2.47% or $155,000 increase over this year’s $6.3 million budget.
“Keeping the budget under that 2.5% going to the town is huge,” committee member Nichole Daniel said.
On top of the budget, Marion is receiving just over $244,000 in grants and other funding for paraprofessionals, teachers, facilities and tuition costs.
