Back in the 1980s and ’90s, the BBC were in the habit of showing Nicolas Roeg’s Don’t Look Now late in the evening. I came across it by accident one midnight, and was absolutely terrified. Horror movies as a genre tend towards the trashy, the formulaic, but Roeg’s film was a once-in-a-generation original, the kind of film that gets under your skin, and haunts you with images you might rather forget.
