India News: NEW DELHI: There are about 2,000 cured patients languishing in mental healthcare institutions which amount to violation of their rights, highlighted N.
“We need to increase the MD, Mphil, and diploma seats. The severe shortage of doctors and staff infringes on the human rights of mentally ill patients. Most institutions are working with 30-40% staff. There is a necessity for lady psychiatrists or psychologists for female patients,” Justice Mishra said.
Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge has dissented to the NHRC appointment on the grounds that candidates from marginalised communities were not considered.
